We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) to join the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) Section (http://www.shef.ac.uk/scharr/heds). You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing support to health economics/decision modelling research staff on a range of applied policy and methodological research with a particular focus on Health Economic Modelling of Work Related Interventions.
The work will involve contribution and support to projects funded by NIHR research grants. It will involve designing and undertaking health economic and statistical analyses for policy appraisal. The work is for a range of decision makers including the Department of Health and Social Care and related agencies.
Analysis of complex datasets and design of health economic models are key activities, as is methodological development to support cost-effectiveness analysis. Approaches used within the projects include decision analytic modelling (e.g. Markov and discrete event simulations), optimisation techniques, and econometrics and multivariate statistical analyses.
A graduate qualification or equivalent in a numerate subject (e.g. statistics, economics, operational research, mathematics, or quantitative applied sciences or social sciences) is essential, as is a post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience.
You should have demonstrable potential to undertake analysis of complex datasets and design of health economic models. Experience of decision analytic modelling e.g. discrete event simulation, state transition modelling is desirable.
